Company and organization websites aim to inform visitors about the product, service or view they wish to promote, or knowledge they want to make known.
Website texts, often called articles, take whatever form their authors choose to give them. Often, however, the texts have a standard expository text structure:
- Introduction
- Development paragraphs
- Conclusion
The conclusion often includes a call to action that invites readers to do something: for example, buy a product, book a service, make a donation or adopt a new behaviour.
Often no date is given for when a website article was published, making it unclear whether it was published recently or years ago.
Many company and organization websites also include a blog section that aims to develop customer loyalty and trust by providing up-to-date helpful information and advice.
