Midterm Writing Evaluation: Due before class begins
- Do this at home in the Midterm Project document that you have already shared with me. Do not reshare it.
- Any changes made to the text after class begins are considered late: the penalty is - 20% (department rule).
- See the Midterm Project Writing Evaluation for all details on what you must include and what I evaluate.
- In class today we'll do a 15-minute live writing sample to validate that you wrote the text yourself.
Vocabulary Quiz part of the Midterm Project: During class
-
- Ensure that your list is complete and correct. See the criteria in the "How you'll be evaluated" section of the page that explains the Midterm Project.
- Share your list with me in a distinct WORD 365 document if you have not already done this.
- Learn the words.
What we'll do during class:
- 15-minute live writing sample
- In our Midterm Project document, I'll ask you to write 80 words in 15 minutes about a topic that is familiar to you:
- I'll choose the topic.
- This is enough time to write and revise what you have written.
- This sample allows me to validate whether students likely wrote their Midterm Project by themselves or received help from someone or AI:
- I know that when we have more time we can do better work.
- If the difference in quality is too great, I ask the student to come to school to write their Midterm Project again while being supervised.
- In our Midterm Project document, I'll ask you to write 80 words in 15 minutes about a topic that is familiar to you:
- Vocabulary Quiz
- I will quiz each student individually. Be sure to have your list in tip-top shape.
- Listening Project prep
- While waiting for your turn to do the Vocabulary Quiz, you can prep some more for the Listening Project.
- Ask a partner if your notes are clear.
- Practice speaking from your notes.
- Fine tune them as necessary.
- Listening Project evaluations begin next class. Everyone needs to be ready.
